Summary:

Fans of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Looking for Alaska will love this heartbreaking and at times humorous look into one teen’s life after the death of his best friends.

Carver Briggs never thought a simple text would cause a fatal crash, killing his three best friends, Mars, Eli, and Blake. But now Carver can’t stop blaming himself for the accident and even worse, a powerful judge is pressuring the district attorney to open up a criminal investigation.

Luckily, Carver has some unexpected allies: Eli’s girlfriend, the only person to stand by him at school; Dr. Mendez, his new therapist; and Blake’s grandmother, who asks Carver to spend a “goodbye day” together to share their memories and say a proper farewell.

Soon the other families are asking for their own goodbye day with Carver—but he’s unsure of their motives. Will they all be able to make peace with their losses, or will these Goodbye Days bring Carver one step closer to a complete breakdown or—even worse—prison?

“One of the most stunningly heartfelt, lump-in-your-throat novels I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Hold on to your heart: this book will wreck you, fix you, and most definitely change you.”
Becky Albertalli, author of Morris Award winner Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

“Tender, honest, moving, and lyrical. His characters live and breathe. Ahh, lucky me. Lucky us. Zentner is the real thing.”Benjamin Alire Sáenz, winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and Printz Honor Winner

Why I’m Excited:

I LOVED The Serpent King. LOVED it…so I was automatically onboard for whatever Jeff puts out. Then I heard about the concept for this book and I’ve already pre-ordered it and it doesn’t come out until March 2017.

His 3 best friends died thanks to trying to answer his text? I can’t even IMAGINE.

Serpent King made me tear up enough, so I’m ready for what this one will do to my emotions already.

Bring on March 2017!

Ocean’s Eleven meets the star-crossed lovers of West Side Story. Grab some popcorn and get ready for an adrenaline-filled heist!

LEXI is a rich girl who loves a good rush. Whether it’s motorcycle racing or BASE jumping off a building in downtown Los Angeles, the only times she feels alive are when she and her friends are executing one of their dares. After her father’s arrest, Lexi doesn’t think twice about going undercover at his bank to steal the evidence that might clear his name. She enlists her hacker brother and her daredevil friends to plan a clever heist.

CHRISTIAN is a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. The local gang has blackmailed him and his friends into robbing banks, and he is desperate for a way out. When the boss promises that one really big job will be the last he ever has to do, Christian jumps at the chance for freedom. In fact, he’s just met a girl at the bank who might even prove useful. . . .

Two heists. One score. The only thing standing in their way is each other.

Told in alternating points of view, this caper is full of romance and fast-paced fun. Hand to fans of Perfect Chemistry, The Conspiracy of Us, and Heist Society.

Why:

I absolutely LOVED Parker’s Gated books a couple years back. I still recommend it to people all the time actually. So when I hard about this one I was naturally intrigued!

This seems like it’ll have a good Romeo and Juliet vibe going to it and that is always a fun time in books. Plus, Amy is just a fun writer as it is.

I can’t wait to read this! While you wait, pick up a copy of Gated and give it a try!

Monday Musing: Countdown to November 9!

november9

Oh, you thought I meant the actual DAY?

Oops.

I always think that I can’t possibly be any more excited for an upcoming book until Colleen Hoover goes and announces a new book. I’m not gonna lie- she’s probably my favorite author. She’s also incredibly nice and generous!

Seriously though- as much as I love to read, my attention span struggles to just sit and read a book straight through. I have to be up doing something or moving from one thing to another….except when it comes to Colleen’s books. I normally sit, lose track of time, and read cover to cover.

The catch is that November 9 actually comes out on November 10.

I know. Why not change the date in the story or just go ahead and release it on Monday instead of the traditional Tuesday, right?

Who knows. All I know is that next Tuesday can’t get here fast enough. I always want her books in paperback, but always end up getting them on kindle just so that I can have it ASAP!

But really…check out how awesome this sounds and go ahead and preorder it:

November 9 summary:

Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

Countdown to Carry On!

First things first….I am SO excited for Carry On to release!

I’m a big fan of Rainbow Rowell and Fangirl is easily my favorite book of hers. I felt like I completely understood the characters in that book as well as the situations. In fact, the entire time I kept thinking, “Man, I wish that I could read Carry On. Simon Snow sounds awesome!” Well, now we can read it! Carry On is releasing on October 6!

9pDobWamqAYfxzkqPiFwehDmOJLjalE1Wav0IsZTnKg

That cover? So simple, but it’s still so eye catching! The summary alone should be enough to hook in a reader who maybe didn’t already read Fangirl to know about the story.

Book Info:

#1 New York Times bestselling author!

Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who’s ever been chosen.

That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right.

Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up.

Carry On – The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story – but far, far more monsters.

Release: October 6

Length: 528 Pages

Publisher: St Martins Griffin

Preorder:

If you preorder the book then there are some perks via the publisher, however…it’s only $8.99 to get on Kindle! That’s a GREAT price AND you can take advantage of the preorder perks! Go HERE to preorder Carry On!

Final Thoughts:

I can’t wait for this book! I was so engrossed in the story during Fangirl, so i’m ready to see why those characters loved the story too! Two more weeks!
